Custom price vs. public offer: when the crossed-out price appears

Changing the price of a date does not create a promotion. Learn the difference and how to declare a real offer.

What it is

These are two different concepts, and confusing them is the most common cause of "why did my price show up crossed out?" — or, the other way round, "why did my promotion not appear?".

A custom price is simply a different amount for a date. You set it and that is that. It suits a holiday, a local event, high season, low season or any operational adjustment.

A public offer is a commercial decision you declare: "I want the guest to see that this is a promotion".

Only the second makes your booking link show the "was / now" format, with the previous amount struck through.

When to use each

Use a custom price when you only want to charge a different amount on that date. That covers most adjustments: New Year at a higher rate, a low-season Tuesday cheaper, an event week at a special value.

Use a public offer when the discount is part of your communication — when you want the guest to notice the reduction and feel some urgency.

How to set a custom price

1. Go to Settings → Properties.

2. Click the property's Calendar icon (green).

3. Select the dates (click each one, or drag).

4. Enter the amount.

5. Click Save.

The price applies to those dates. The guest sees the new amount normally, with nothing crossed out.

How to declare a public offer

In the same Calendar flow, when setting the price, tick Show as an offer on the public link before saving.

Only then can Rezvia present the previous price struck through with the new value highlighted.

A real reduction is a condition

Declaring the offer does not force a "was / now". The format only appears when there is a genuine reduction against the normal price for that date.

If you declare an amount higher than the normal price as an offer, nothing is crossed out. An increase never becomes a promotion — that would mislead the guest, and Rezvia does not do it.

What the guest sees

With the offer declared and a real reduction, they see something like:

~~R$ 1,000~~ R$ 800

Without the offer declared, they see only R$ 800. The price is the same in both cases — what changes is the presentation.

Worked example

Your normal September rate is R$ 1,000.

Scenario 1 — low demand. You drop to R$ 800 to fill the calendar, but you do not want to look like a clearance sale. Set the custom price and do not tick the offer. The guest sees R$ 800.

Scenario 2 — anniversary campaign. You want the discount to show. Set R$ 800 and tick "Show as an offer on the public link". The guest sees R$ 1,000 struck through and R$ 800 highlighted.

Same final amount, different communication.

Important

  • A custom price alone never produces a "was / now".
  • A higher price never becomes a promotion, even when declared as an offer.
  • A voucher is a different concept: it is a discount code the guest types at checkout.
  • A package is a different concept: it is a closed period that must be booked in full, at its own price.
  • The base rate remains the value used on dates with no price configured. See How to define the property base rate.
