How to edit a booking already created

Change dates, guests, amount, room and status on an existing booking, and understand what the platform refuses and why.

Where to edit

Open the booking under Bookings or in the Calendar and use edit. Both screens lead to the same place.

What you can change

  • Dates for check-in and check-out.
  • Times for check-in and check-out on that booking.
  • Room, in properties that sell rooms.
  • Guest details — name, phone and email.
  • Number of guests.
  • Total amount.
  • Status — pending, confirmed, checked in, checked out, cancelled, blocked.
  • Payment method and instalments.
  • Source of the booking and the channel fee.
  • Notes.
  • What you cannot change

The property. A booking is born attached to a property and stays there. To move a guest from one property to another, cancel the current booking and create a new one on the right property — that way both histories stay correct.

Changing the room within the same property is, on the other hand, an ordinary edit.

Changing dates: what the platform checks

When you change dates, availability is verified before saving. If the new period collides with another booking, a manual block or a booking imported from another channel, the change is refused and the screen explains why.

That is not bureaucracy: it is the protection that stops you selling the same date twice. If you really need that period, resolve the conflict first — remove the block, move the other booking — and then edit.

The check also considers the boundary between bookings: one guest leaving and the next arriving on the same day must fit the property's times.

    Changing the amount

The total can be changed at any time. If the booking already has payments recorded, the balance is recalculated — what came in stays where it was.

If the booking has an instalment plan, the sum of the instalments must still equal the total. The screen tells you when it does not.

    Changing the status

Status drives the calendar and the reports:

  • Pending does not secure the date for revenue purposes.
  • Confirmed is a firm booking.
  • Checked in and Checked out follow the stay and organise cleaning.
  • Cancelled frees the dates — and, when money has been paid, opens the financial settlement. See how to cancel a booking.
  • Bookings from other channels

Bookings imported from an external calendar can be updated again by their source. Avoid editing them without need: the next sync may overwrite your change. See how to integrate your calendar.

    Common mistakes

  • Trying to move the booking to another property through edit. There is no such path — cancel and recreate.
  • Changing the total and forgetting to adjust the instalments.
  • Changing dates without resolving the conflict the screen reported, and insisting on save.
  • Editing an imported booking and being surprised it reverted.
