Charging per person or per extra guest

Choose between charging for the whole unit, charging per person, or adding a surcharge for each guest beyond what the rate includes.

The three charging modes

Every property — and, in per-room operations, every room — has a charging mode. There are three, and you pick one:

  • Per property / night — the nightly rate covers the whole stay, no matter how many guests. This is how every property starts.
  • Per person / night — each guest pays the full rate.
  • Per property / night + extra guest surcharge — the rate covers a number of people; anyone beyond that pays a surcharge per night.
  • Where to choose

    1. Go to Settings → Properties and edit the property.

    2. Find the Charging mode field.

    3. Pick one of the three options.

    4. Fill in the fields that appear and save.

In properties that sell rooms, the choice is made on each room, in the room form, under Charging.

    Per property / night

Nothing changes from what you already know: you enter the nightly rate and it applies to the unit, whether one guest or six.

This is the right option for whole houses and country properties, where the number of people does not change your cost.

    Per person / night

Here the rate you enter is per paying guest. The field is renamed Rate per person/night.

The maths is direct: the night's rate × paying guests = that night's amount.

"The night's rate" is literal — if that date has a special price, a season or a price you typed, that is the value being multiplied. The pricing order runs first and stays untouched; the multiplication comes after. See how the nightly price is decided.

This is the right option for guesthouses, hostels and operations where each extra person is a real cost.

Per property / night + extra guest surcharge

This is the most complete one. You enter two things:

The rate includes: how many adults, children and babies are already covered by the nightly rate.

Per extra guest, per night: how much each adult, child and baby beyond that costs.

The rate field is renamed Property rate/night (base) — it covers the included group, and the surcharge only applies to those beyond it.

    Two details that prevent confusion:

  • A baby's surcharge can be R$ 0. In that case the baby counts as an extra guest and still pays nothing — it is how you say "babies are free" without removing them from the headcount.
  • This does not change the capacity of the unit. The guest limit remains the one you set in the capacity field.
  • Nothing changes on its own

Every property and every room that has never been through this setting stays on per property / night, at the same price as always. Per-person charging is a choice, never a default.

    In per-room operations

Authority belongs to the room, not the property. A property rented by room can have a studio charging per person and a chalet charging per unit.

The property's setting is not inherited by rooms: each room answers for its own charging mode, exactly as already happens with price, capacity and pet policy.

    Worked example

A guesthouse configures a chalet like this:

  • Charging mode: per property / night + extra guest surcharge
  • Base rate: R$ 400
  • The rate includes: 2 adults, 1 child, 1 baby
  • Surcharge per night: adult R$ 80, child R$ 50, baby R$ 0
  • A family of 3 adults, 2 children and 1 baby books 2 nights:

  • base: R$ 400 × 2 nights = R$ 800
  • 1 extra adult: R$ 80 × 2 = R$ 160
  • 1 extra child: R$ 50 × 2 = R$ 100
  • extra baby: R$ 0
  • Total for the nights: R$ 1,060.

    Common mistakes

  • Switching to "per person" and forgetting to lower the nightly rate — it is now multiplied.
  • Setting the surcharge on the property and being surprised the room did not change. In per-room operations, the room decides.
  • Thinking that raising the included headcount raises capacity. They are different fields.
