Optional add-ons on a booking

Offer extra items such as bed linen, a cot or breakfast, with a unit price and a maximum quantity.

What add-ons are

Add-ons are optional items the guest can include in a booking, charged separately from the nightly rate: bed linen, a cot, breakfast, use of the barbecue, extra parking.

Unlike the pet fee, which follows automatically from the number of animals, an add-on is chosen by the guest.

Where to configure them

While editing the property, in Settings → Properties, look for the Add-ons section.

The fields

  • Name — what the guest reads (e.g. Bed linen).
  • Description (optional) — the detail that prevents questions (e.g. "Set with sheet, pillowcase and towel").
  • Unit price — how much each one costs.
  • Max qty (optional) — the cap per booking. Blank means no limit.
  • Active — switch off to stop offering it without deleting the history.
  • Visible on the public link — decides whether the guest can pick it themselves, or whether the item is only used by you when creating a booking manually.
  • Active and visible are different things

The combination is worth understanding, because it covers real cases:

  • Active and visible — the guest picks it on your link.
  • Active, not visible — only you can add it while building the booking. Useful for items that depend on a prior arrangement.
  • Inactive — it appears nowhere. Past bookings that used it stay intact.
  • Where the amount appears

The add-on is charged separately and appears itemised on the booking, apart from the nightly rate. It goes into the total, and it also goes into the owner statement calculation.

Deactivating does not erase the past

When you deactivate an add-on, bookings that already included it keep the item and the amount recorded. The add-on list offers Reactivate to bring it back.

    Worked example

A country property registers three add-ons:

  • Bed linen — R$ 40 per unit, max 8, visible on the link.
  • Breakfast — R$ 35 per person, no limit, visible on the link.
  • Birthday decoration — R$ 250, max 1, not visible: only added when the guest asks over WhatsApp.
  • Common mistakes

  • Registering the add-on and forgetting to tick Visible on the public link, then wondering why no guest picked it.
  • Leaving the maximum quantity blank on an item with a real physical limit.
  • Deleting instead of deactivating an add-on you no longer offer.
